The Embroidery System 8.1 and later uses new features that are only found in the HASP SRM driver. The Hasp License Manager Service (C:\Windows\System32\hasplms.exe) components of these drivers is needed to both update your dongle to use the features of the HASP SRM drivers and allow the software to open.

Some security software (specifically the firewall component) may try to block the hasplms.exe file from fully accessing the dongle components of your computer. This may cause your dongle to flash.

During the 4D Embroidery System 8.1 install, most security software will give you the option to 'Allow' or 'Deny' the hasplms.exe file the access that it needs; at this time you should click 'Allow'.

After re-configuring the Anti-Virus / Firewall software:

• When updating to 4D Embroidery Software 8.1 re-run the update and then run the 4D Embroidery System
• When installing 4D Embroidery Software 8.1 browse to the Technical\Dongle Driver on the DVD and run the HaspUserSetup.exe followed by the FirmwareUpdate.exe and then run the 4D Embroidery System

Norton Internet Security 2008

1. Open Norton Internet Security 2008
2. Click on the Options link on the bottom left of the screen.
3. Click on Norton Internet Security from the drop-down list.
4. The Norton Internet Security Option screen will open.
5. Click on the Personal Firewall link on the left of the screen.
6. Click on the Program Control link.
7. Select the hasplms entry.
8. Change the Access drop-down list from Custom to Allow.
9. Click Apply then click OK.

McAfee SecurityCenter

1. Open the McAfee SecurityCenter
2. Click on the Advanced Menu option at the bottom left of the screen.
3. Click on the Configure button on the left of the screen.
4. Click on the Internet & Network option.
5. Click on the Advanced... button. The Firewall window will open.
6. Click on Program Permissions option.
7. Select the Aladdin HASP License Manager Service entry.
8. Click the Grant Full Access option from the Action section in the bottom right of the screen.

ZoneAlarm

1. Open ZoneAlarm.
2. Click on the Program Control menu on the left of the screen.
3. Click on the Programs tab on the top right of the screen.
4. Right click on all the question marks (?) symbols for the Aladdin HASP License Manager entry; select Allow from the context menu.

Panda Internet Security 2007

1. Open Panda
2. Within the Security protection section; click on the Settings... button. Another dialog box will open.
3. Click on the Firewall button on the left of the screen.
4. In the "Programs with access to the network" section; click on the Settings... button.
5. Select the Aladdin HASP License Manager Service.
6. Click on the Communication drop-down list
7. Select "Inbound and Outbound" from the list.
8. Click Close.
9. Click OK
10. Restart your computer.

McAfee 2005/2006

1. Right-click the McAfee icon in the system tray.
2. Left-click the Personal Firewall. This will open the Security Window.
3. Click Internet Applications from the left column.
4. Find hasplms.exe/HASP License Manager Service under Application Name. Highlight by clicking on hasplms.exe/HASP License Manager Service
5. In the lower right hand corner, click "Allow Full Access".
6. Exit this window.

Norton 2005/2006

1. Open Norton Internet Security. The Norton Internet Security windows will open.
2. Click the Status & Settings option if you are not already on that screen.
3. Click the Personal Firewall setting. The right hand pane will give more options for the Personal Firewall setting.
4. Click the Configure button. A new Norton Internet Security window will open.
5. Click the Programs tab.
6. In the Manual Program Control section, scroll down the list until you see hasplms.exe.
7. Click on the drop-down arrow in the Internet Access column.
8. Choose the Permit All option.
9. Click the OK button. This will close the 2nd Norton Internet Security windows.
10. Close the first Norton Internet Security window.
